On Saturday, March 24, 1984, five students at Shermer High School report at 7:00 a.m. for an all-day detention: Brian Johnson, Andrew Clark, Allison Reynolds, Claire Standish, and John Bender. Or, "a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal."
In February 1985, the film debuted at No. 3 at the box office (behind Beverly Hills Cop and Witness).
The film was made with a $1 million budget.
The movie grossed $45,875,171 domestically and $51,525,171 worldwide, making it a box office success.
