We don't want to be safe just to be safe. We practice safe habits so we can enjoy all life has to offer. Situational awareness allows us to see potential threats, but it also enables us to see the good things that we might miss otherwise. We aren't paranoid, just prepared. That allows us to be more confident and relaxed. It allows us to enjoy life safely.
